We have listed some key customers to highlight the services and solutions that Focus Support can provide for your organisation.   You may also visit our Frequenctly Asked Questions page for further information.

Aker Kvaerner

Focus Support placed a team of three comprising, Engineer, Inspector and Repairer, at the AK site in Aberdeen. Their brief was to set up an inspection/repair cell to analyse and repair, as required, all PCBA stock.   In addition a comprehensive database was created listing all faults and repairs and from this an inspection process was developed.   These PCBA's had a sub-sea application which meant that nothing other than 100% reliability was acceptable.
Focus Support were subsequently invited by AK to train their inspection staff.

Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS)

DFS are the German Air Traffic Control Authority.   Development and trials on a their new ATC system will not be complete until 2012.   In 2006 Focus Support presented a plan, which was accepted by DFS, to handle all field returns and implement a planned upgrade of all system motherboards.
Working with DFS, Focus Support re-developed both a functional test and application test process.
The mother boards are Eiger CPU (EBM65) utilising an Alpha processor.   As this product went EOL in 2004, Focus Support sought to establish links in China and the USA to secure a supply of SMD and BGA components to guarantee ongoing product lifecycle support.   As an Eiger CPU will cost up to $10K on the open market it emphasises the fact that Focus Support are both a cost effective and strategic part of DFS operations.

Babcock

Focus Support are located at Rosyth Business Park which is part of the Babcock naval facility.   In 2007 Focus and Babcock worked together to develop a repair service for the various PCBA's which control welding plant.   Focus Support have set up welding and wire feeder slave units so that Babcock can deliver faulty PCBA's to be repaired by Focus and then be functionally tested in the slave units before being returned to Babcock.   This process helps avoid the costly "remove old / replace new" operation which is often the only service provided for out of warranty product.
